TinkerTime is best thought of as a hands-on learning experience. Each kit includes materials for making real projects, but the goal goes beyond building something fun. Through our PlayBooks, children are encouraged to observe, think, experiment, and understand why things work the way they do.

Each activity can take roughly 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the project and the child's pace. Some children like to move quickly, while others prefer to pause, explore, and revisit parts of the guide. TinkerTime is designed to be flexible, so children can take their time rather than rush through it.

The kit includes the core materials needed for the projects. In some cases, you may need simple household items or basic tools that are commonly available at home. If anything extra is required, it will be clearly mentioned in the guide so you know in advance.

It depends on the child's age, confidence, and prior experience with hands-on activities. Many children can do large parts independently, while some may need occasional support with setup, reading instructions, or handling materials. TinkerTime is designed for the age range mentioned on each kit. Younger children should use it only with close adult supervision. Some activities may include small parts, tools, or materials that are not suitable for very young children.

Each kit comes with access to PlayBooks for its activities. These guides do more than give build instructions. They also include explanations, prompts, and questions that help children notice patterns, make predictions, and understand the ideas behind what they are making.

The passcode is provided inside your kit. You'll use it to unlock the PlayBooks for your kit.

If your passcode doesn't work, please write to us at support@tinkermills.com and we'll help you as quickly as we can. When you contact us, please include your order details and the name of the kit you received.

Yes. The PlayBooks can be accessed on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops with an internet connection. However, for the best experience, we strongly recommend using a laptop or desktop, since the guides are easier to follow on a larger screen while building.

You can revisit the PlayBooks after unlocking them, so children can return to an activity, review an idea, or remake a project at their own pace.

We'd love to see what your child makes. At appropriate points inside the PlayBooks, you'll find prompts and forms that allow you to upload and share your child's creation with us directly.
